This service will be provided once again in the spring, and if funding allows, again in the fall. This will be a town wide pick-up, with no appointment necessary. The tentative date of our spring town wide pick-up is scheduled for April 26th. Please have all brush and limbs at the roadside by April 26th. This date is tentative, depending on weather conditions and unforeseen emergency road repairs.
All limbs (up to 8” in diameter) must be placed with cut ends to the road, within the right of way, at the edge of the road. Please do not block the limbs into short lengths. If you have grape vines, vines with thorns or other brush for disposal, please keep these separate from the limbs, as we will remove them with a clam bucket and truck.

RemindersConsider this when you winterize your mailbox.

Safe Driving – As always, please stay alert to Highway work crews as we address highway issues such as road surfacing, repairs and ditching. Please drive with caution through work zones. Remember patience is a virtue often called upon during the road construction season.

When the State, County and Town of Riga install any object, (mainly signs) in the Right-of-Way; they always use breakaway post systems. We would not do this unless forced to do so by the legal system. So when you are inspecting and repairing your mailbox system, do you really want to use any post that is any stronger than a 4x4? Check with your insurance company, if they will cover any post stronger than a 4x4.
If your mailbox system is damaged during snow removal operations the Town Board has authorized a 4x4 post and the standard size metal mailbox as the only replacements, regardless of what you have installed.   The highway crew will repair any mailbox system they damaged to serviceable condition, not necessarily a new system.
